DiamondGlow® is a noninvasive skin-resurfacing treatment that combines exfoliation, extraction and serum infusion in a single procedure. Using a precision diamond-tip wand, the treatment removes dull surface cells, clears debris from the pores and delivers a customized SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion Serum while the skin is most receptive.

Each treatment can be personalized according to your skin type, sensitivity and primary concerns. DiamondGlow may help the skin appear smoother, clearer, more hydrated and more radiant with minimal interruption to your routine.

How does DiamondGlow work?

DiamondGlow uses its signature 3X1™ technology to perform three steps at the same time:

  • Exfoliation: A recessed diamond tip gently removes the outermost layer of dead and damaged skin cells.
  • Extraction: Controlled suction lifts oil, debris and other buildup from the pores.
  • Infusion: A selected SkinMedica Pro-Infusion Serum is delivered onto the freshly resurfaced skin.

Unlike traditional wet facials that rely primarily on chemical exfoliation, DiamondGlow uses a physical diamond tip. The tip’s level of abrasion and the amount of suction can be adjusted according to the condition and sensitivity of your skin.

What concerns can DiamondGlow improve?

DiamondGlow may help improve the appearance of:

  • Dry or dehydrated skin
  • Dullness
  • Rough or uneven texture
  • Fine lines
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Visible hyperpigmentation
  • Enlarged-looking pores
  • Congested pores and blackheads
  • Post-acne discoloration
  • Mild blemishes
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Keratosis pilaris
  • Reduced skin radiance

DiamondGlow is a cosmetic resurfacing treatment rather than a medical treatment for active skin disease. Moderate or severe acne, rosacea, dermatitis, pigmentation disorders and other medical conditions may require evaluation and treatment by a dermatology provider.

How is the treatment customized?

DiamondGlow uses diamond tips with different levels of abrasion. Your aesthetician selects the appropriate tip and adjusts the suction strength based on your skin’s thickness, sensitivity and treatment goals.

The selected SkinMedica Pro-Infusion Serum is also matched to your concerns. Available serum categories may include formulas designed to support:

  • Hydration and dry skin
  • The appearance of fine lines and other signs of aging
  • Uneven tone and hyperpigmentation
  • Congested pores and post-acne discoloration
  • Dullness and visible photodamage

Your provider may use one serum or customize the treatment with more than one formula when appropriate.

What areas can be treated?

DiamondGlow may be performed on several areas of the face and body, including the:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Décolletage or chest
  • Back
  • Arms
  • Legs

Treatments on the back may help address congestion and body breakouts, while treatments on the arms or legs may improve rough texture associated with keratosis pilaris. Your aesthetician will adjust the diamond tip and suction level for the thickness and sensitivity of each treatment area.

What happens during treatment?

Your appointment begins with a consultation to discuss your skin type, current products, sensitivities and treatment goals. Your aesthetician will then select an appropriate diamond tip, suction strength and serum.

The DiamondGlow wand is passed methodically over the treatment area. As the wand moves across the skin, it simultaneously exfoliates the surface, extracts pore debris and delivers the selected serum.

The treatment may feel lightly scratchy or similar to gentle suction moving across the skin. Many patients find the experience comfortable and relaxing.

How long does treatment take?

A DiamondGlow appointment generally takes approximately 45 minutes to one-and-a-half hours. The length of your visit depends on:

  • The areas being treated
  • Your skin’s individual needs
  • The degree of customization
  • Whether enhancements are included
  • The amount of consultation and post-treatment care required

A straightforward facial treatment may be completed more quickly than a customized appointment involving multiple areas or additional services.

Is DiamondGlow uncomfortable?

DiamondGlow is generally well tolerated and does not usually require numbing medication. Some patients notice a mildly scratchy, prickling or stinging sensation as the wand passes over the skin.

The intensity can be adjusted by changing the diamond tip or suction level. Tell your aesthetician if the treatment feels uncomfortable so it can be modified for your skin.

Is there any downtime?

DiamondGlow involves minimal downtime and most patients can return to their regular daily activities immediately after treatment.

Temporary effects may include:

  • Mild redness
  • Slight swelling
  • Tightness
  • Dryness
  • Temporary sensitivity
  • A scratchy or stinging sensation

These effects are generally mild and improve as the skin settles. More significant irritation or an allergic reaction is uncommon but should be reported to the clinic.

When will I see results?

Many patients notice smoother, softer and more hydrated-looking skin shortly after treatment. Improvements in radiance and dryness may be visible immediately, while changes in fine lines, texture or uneven tone may become more noticeable with a consistent series.

Clinical studies cited by the manufacturer found immediate improvements in radiance and dryness for many participants, with continued improvements in uneven tone and visible fine lines following a series of treatments. Individual results vary.

How many treatments will I need?

A single DiamondGlow treatment can provide a temporary refresh before a special occasion or whenever the skin appears dull or congested.

For more progressive improvement, The Dermatology Clinic generally recommends a series of six treatments followed by maintenance appointments approximately every four to six weeks. The manufacturer notes that treatments may be performed as frequently as every two weeks when recommended by the provider.

Your schedule will depend on:

  • Your primary skin concerns
  • The condition and sensitivity of your skin
  • Your current skin-care regimen
  • How your skin responds
  • Whether DiamondGlow is being combined with other services
  • Your desired results

How long do the results last?

The smoother, brighter appearance following treatment may last for several weeks. The current clinic protocol notes that many patients maintain their refreshed glow for up to approximately six weeks when treatment is supported by an appropriate at-home skin-care regimen.

Results are not permanent. Dead skin, oil, environmental exposure and sun damage continue to affect the complexion. Daily sunscreen, consistent skin care and maintenance treatments can help preserve your results.

What treatment enhancements are available?

DiamondGlow may be customized with additional services based on your skin and aesthetic goals. Available enhancements may include:

  • TNS® Advanced+ Serum: A topical age-supporting formula designed to improve the appearance of coarse wrinkles, fine lines, skin tone, texture and sagging skin.
  • Lip infusion therapy: A targeted enhancement intended to hydrate, smooth and temporarily plump the appearance of the lips.
  • Eye radiance therapy: A focused treatment designed to hydrate and smooth the delicate skin around the eyes.
  • Superficial peel: A light chemical peel may be added to address concerns such as dullness, dryness, congestion or mild blemishes when appropriate.
  • Dermaplaning: Dermaplaning removes surface buildup and fine facial hair before DiamondGlow. This combination is offered as the Diamond Dermaplane Facial.
  • Waxing or brow tinting: Lip or brow waxing and brow tinting may be included when suitable for the patient and treatment plan.

Not every enhancement should be performed on every patient or during every appointment. Your aesthetician will recommend appropriate options based on your skin’s condition and recent treatments.

How should I prepare for treatment?

Before your DiamondGlow appointment:

  • Avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure
  • Arrive with clean skin and no makeup when possible
  • Discontinue retinoids and other exfoliating products at least three days beforehand unless your provider gives different instructions
  • Tell your provider about prescription and over-the-counter topical medications
  • Report any allergies or history of severe skin reactions
  • Tell your provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Report recent injectable, laser, peel, microneedling or resurfacing treatments
  • Tell your provider about any active rash, cold sore, sunburn, open wound or significant irritation

The manufacturer recommends avoiding DiamondGlow on compromised skin, including skin that is sunburned, chapped, broken, actively weeping or affected by an active cold sore.

How should I care for my skin afterward?

Your skin may be more sensitive following exfoliation. To protect your results:

  • Use a gentle cleanser
  • Apply an approved moisturizer
  • Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher
  • Limit direct sun exposure
  • Avoid tanning
  • Do not aggressively rub or exfoliate the skin
  • Avoid retinoids, scrubs, acids and other irritating products until advised they can be resumed
  • Follow the skin-care regimen recommended by your aesthetician

Contact the clinic if you develop severe irritation, increasing swelling, blistering, hives or another unexpected reaction.

Who is a good candidate for DiamondGlow?

DiamondGlow may be appropriate for patients who want to improve dryness, dullness, mild congestion, uneven texture, visible pores or early signs of aging without significant downtime.

The treatment can be customized for many skin types and tones through adjustments to the diamond tip, suction level and serum. However, DiamondGlow is not appropriate for everyone and an individual evaluation is necessary when the skin is highly reactive or affected by an active condition.

Who may need to postpone treatment?

Treatment may need to be postponed if you have:

  • Sunburned or recently tanned skin
  • Chapped, irritated or broken skin
  • An open wound
  • An active cold sore or herpetic lesion
  • Active, weeping or severely inflamed acne
  • A significant rash or dermatitis flare
  • A known allergy to a proposed serum ingredient
  • Recently received injectable treatment in the area
  • Recently undergone a laser, peel or resurfacing procedure

Patients who recently received botulinum toxin or dermal filler are generally advised to wait before undergoing a facial treatment that applies suction or pressure. The current clinic page recommends waiting approximately two weeks, although your injector’s specific instructions should take priority.

Can DiamondGlow be combined with other treatments?

DiamondGlow may be included in a broader skin-care plan involving dermaplaning, superficial peels, laser services, injectables or other aesthetic treatments.

Some services can be performed during the same visit, while others should be separated to prevent excessive irritation or pressure on recently treated tissue. Your provider will recommend the safest sequence based on your skin, medical history and recent procedures.
